    (5) Appointed as special counsel for the “Peoples Commission, constituted by “Committee for Disappearances in Punjab” which comprised of a retired Supreme Court of India Judge, Justice Kuldip Singh and three other Hon’ble retired Judges of High Court Justice D.S.Tiwatia, Justice Suresh, Justice Jaspal Singh and represented the cases of Human Rights violation.
    (6) After registering as a “Foreign Legal Consultant”, with Law Society of British Columbia, worked in Association with Kang Abrahams Chahal, Barristers and Solicitors, Vancouver, Canada, from September 2001 till March 2002.
    (7) Worked on the defense team of AIR INDIA CRASH trial in Vancouver, Canada from August 2001 till March 2002 as an Indian Lawyer .

  COURT APPEARANCES: (a) Conducted nearly 2000 cases relating to detenus detained under the provisions of National Security Act and Terrorist & Disruptive Activities Prevention Act of India. Also conducted matters relating Bails, Habeas Corpus Petitions, including petitions on matters relating to custodial violence, illegal detentions, extra judicial Executions. Also filed petitions in which compensations were sought for victims of State repression.
    (b) Appeared in cases relating to Family Laws, Marriage law and Adoption Act.
    (c) Also conducted various Public Interest Petitions on Pro-Bono basis in matters relating to Human rights violations, environment pollution and ecological imbalance.
  EXPERIENCE OF INTERACTION WITH INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS BODIES:
      Besides being actively associated with International Human Rights Bodies i.e. Amnesty International, Asia Watch, Article IX, Physicians for Human Rights.
      Attended United Nations Sub Committees on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances at Geneva, Switzerland in September 1991 and 1992.   Then in New York, U.S. in June 1995 and 1996.
  ATTENDANCE OF INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL CONFERENCES:
    (1) Attended Common Wealth Lawyers Conference at Vancouver, Canada, in September 1996
    (2) Represented Lawyers for Human Rights International, in a National convention “CAMPAIGN AGAINST DEATH PENALITY” on 22nd and 23rd July 2000 in New Delhi, India.
    (3) Attended International convention hosted by “India Centre for Human Rights and Law” at Panchgani (Maharashtra) India from 24th-31st December 2000 and also held training session for young Lawyers/Human Rights activists.
    (4) Participated in “ National Conference on Security Legislation and Human Rights on 10th and 11th August 2002 at New Delhi by the Indian chapter of Amnesty International .
    (5) Participated as a speaker at a conference organized by Committee Against (POTA ) Prevention of terrorism Act at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh on 29th and 30th march 2003.
    (6) Participated with a group of members of “Lawyers For Human Rights International”, in a conference on “Self Determination for Kashmiris” at Kashmir held on 20th April 2005 and extended support to their demand
    (7) Organised a signature campaign on behalf of Sikhs Against The Death Penalty in association with World Coalition Against death Penalty on 10th October 2005
    (8) Participated as a penalist on a talk show on mercy killing(Euthanasia) on 18th November 2005 in Government college for Girls at Chandigarh.
    (9) Organised a seminar on Death Penalty at Punjab University Chandigarh on 9th December 2005 on behalf of Punjab Rights Forum.
    (10) Organised a demonstration on 17th January 2006 at sector 17 Plaza, Chandigarh to focus the world attention to the campaign against abolition of Death Penalty as well as release of Sikh Political detenus languishing in Indian jails.
    (11) Organised a seminar for “Lawyers For Human Rights International”on the topic “Challenges before the Human Rights Defenders” at Punjab University Chandigarh on 14th April 2006 and also honoured Teesta Sitalvad ,a known Human Right activist who helped Gujarat Riots victims.
    (12) Participated as a speaker in conference organized by Parliamentarians For national Self Determination  on “Self Determination” in the Houses Of parliament West Minister United Kingdom  on 11th May 2006.
    (13) Participated as a Panelist in a penal discussion organized by “Voices For Freedom” at Punjab University Chandigarh on the topic of “Human Rights Violations in Punjab” on 2nd July 2006.
    (14) Participated as a speaker at Fordham University School Of Law ,New York on 28th Oct 2006 ,organized by “Voices For Freedom” in its “Second Annual Conference On Genocide, Torture and Human Rights Abuses”.
    (15) Organised a workshop on behalf of “Lawyers For Human Rights International” on the topic of “Relevance of International Criminal Court in India” on 25th Nov 2006 ,in association with ICC-India campaign a project of “Women Research & action Group (WRAG) Mumbai.
    (16) Participated as a speaker in “National Consultation on Criminal Justice Reforms” held by “Human Rights Law Network” at New Delhi on 2nd June 2007.
    (17) Participated as a speaker in the workshop-cum-consultancy on Dalit rights ,organized by Human Rights Law Net work at ICSSR Complex, Punjab university ,Chandigarh on 28th Oct 2007.
    (18) Participated as a jury member in “Independent Peoples Tribunal” on Torture , Extra Judicial Executions and Forced disappearances in various states of India . The IPT was organized in collaboration with “Lawyers For Human Rights International” at Jawahar Lal Nehru University Delhi on 9th and 10th Feb 2008.
    (19) Participated as a speaker in the Global meet of “SOUTH ASIAN COUNCIL FOR MINORITIES (SACM) at Parliament Annex in New Delhi on 7th March 2008
    (20) Participated in Second National Consultation at New Delhi on 25th April 2008 of International Criminal Court Campaign-India.
    (21) Released report titled “Smoldering Embers” compiled by Voices For Freedom, Lawyers For Human rights International and other org, on the Disappeared people of Punjab at United Nations Church in New York on 20th June 2008.
    (22) Participated as a speaker on the issue of “Death Penalty”, in a panel discussion organized by Amnesty International at Department of Laws, Punjab University, Chandigarh on 27th Aug 2008.
    (23) Participated as a speaker in the National debate held on the topic of INVESTIGATING GENOCIDE :THE ROLE OF COMMISSIONS, held by Org’s Sikhs For Justice & All India Sikh Students Federation in the constitutional Club on 25th Oct 2008.
    (24) Organised a seminar at Law Bhawan Chandigarh on “Rights Of Minorities in Indian Union” as General Secretary LFHRI, in association with other Human Right Bodies on the occasion of 60th anniversary of Declaration of Universal declaration on Human Rights by United Nations on 10th December 2008, which was a World Human Rights day. In the evening and candle light march was also organized in Sector 17 plaza in the memory of innocent Sikhs, Muslims & Christians who lost their lives in communal riots in the nation and innocent citizens who lost their lives in the recent Terrorist attack at Mumbai.
 

EXPERIENCE AS AN EXPERT WITNESS IN COURTS ABROAD:

    (a) In 1995, appeared and accepted as an expert witness on Indian Laws & Human Rights in an Extradition hearing of an Indian in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada. Also appeared and accepted as an Expert Witness on Human Rights situation in India and particularly in Punjab before Immigration and Refugee Board at Vancouver in Canada in the same year.
    (b) In June 1997 appeared and accepted as an Expert Witness on Human Rights situation in India and Punjab in a case relating to Immigration and Refugee Board of the State of San Francisco, U.S.A.
    (c) In June 1998 appeared and accepted as an Expert Witness on Human Rights before a special court in Toronto, Canada, in a case of Security proceedings.
    (d) In December 1998 and April 1999, appeared and accepted as an Expert Witness on Human Rights and Indian Laws before Immigration and Refugee Board of the State of Virginia, U.S.A.
    (e) Then on 15th February 2000, appeared in a Refugee Court of the State of Baltimore, U.S.A. and was accepted as an Expert Witness on Human Rights situation in Punjab.
    (f) In the month of June 2000 ,appeared before “ Special Immigration Appeals Commission ” in United Kingdom and accepted as an expert witness on the issue of Human Rights Violations  qua Sikhs ,who are claiming their separate Home Land  in India.( re matter of Paramjit Singh and Mukhtiar Singh )
    (g) On 2nd ,Feb 2001, appeared as an expert witness before District Courts of  Frisno, California in a case relating to Extradition hearing of Kulbir Singh Barapind.
